The Portugese water dog

The Obama daughters Malia and Sasha had to wait a very long time for the dog, their father promised, when he becomes the President of the United States. Now, after winning the presidential election, the daughters new playmate Bo, a Portuguese water dog, is officially here and moved into White House.

Barack Obama introduced the new family member with the black and white fur in front of dozens of photographers and television cameras in the garden. "We are pleased to Bo," said the U.S. President with a smile on his face. "He has star qualities!"
His daughters Malia and Sasha radiated to the bet.

Papa Obama sparked a very personal campaign pledge: as compensation for the hardships of the past year, he had his ten and seven year old daughters promised a dog. Since his election in November 2008 America wonders about what kind of dog and what race it would be.

The six-month-old Portugese water dog who listens to the name "Bo" was a gift from Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy, a good friend of the Obama family. Background was that the cat of the cousins of Obama's daughters had the same name. Moreover, the father of First Lady Michelle Obama, nicknamed "Diddley" has the same name, as U.S. blues legend Bo Diddley - as they say in the White House.

Despite his youth, the four-legged has already seen much: After his birth, he lived in Texas for a short time, already in the U.S. capital and was on his first master's name Charlie. However, this does not seem happy to have been related. So he came for a month into the house of Kennedy, where he got taught decent dog manners by the Kennedy's dog trainer.

In the United States media on Tuesday experts criticized the name of the Portugese water dog, because "Bo" sounds similar to "no". This would make the education of a four-legged and the communication with him difficult, experts said.

All in all, the decision to welcome a dog in the White House and to expand the presidential family in form of a pet would have been one of the best decisions Obama made in the past.
It shows the people of the U.S. that Obama is an honestly man and a loving father, who wants all the best for his family, for the citizens of America and for this Portugese water dog...

And the people of the U.S. will see that it was THEIR best decision to elect a man that honourable and responsible-minded. That Obama kept his promised to get his daughters this dog shows the people that they can put alle their trust in Barack Obama.

Small gestures can have big effects!
